10–15 lb fluoro/mono or 20–30 lb braid

Crappie

4–8 lb line; jig/minnow presentations around brush and points.

Blue catfish

Heavier tackle with legal live/cut shad

Heavier tackle with legal live/cut shad; drifting/open-water presentations can be effective.

Rules that matter.

  • MDC's 2026 outlook lists largemouth bass, white crappie and blue catfish among the best bets.
  • MDC expects excellent crappie fishing in 2026; structure and brush piles are key.
  • Catfish fishing remains good, with April through September highlighted and blue catfish available later into fall/year-round.
  • Check current reservoir-specific length and daily limits before harvest.
