MDC lists the managed Vlasis Park Lake at only 0.5 acre. Ballwin also describes fishing ponds at Vlasis Park and notes seasonal catfish and trout stocking. On water this small, the useful question is less “where do I run?” and more “what season and stocking window am I fishing?”
Catfish + trout seasons
Ballwin says its fishing lakes are stocked with catfish during the warm season and trout in winter. MDC lists trout, sunfish and catfish at Vlasis.
No boats
MDC prohibits boats on the managed lake. Keep the plan bank-based and compact.
Public fishing
Ballwin says fishing is open to the public and free of charge, while anglers still need to follow Missouri license and posted limit requirements.
Treat Vlasis like a timing-and-presentation lake
- For trout, check the current stocking and special-regulation period before choosing bait or artificials. A light spinning setup is enough for the size of the water.
- For catfish, give a bottom rig time to work instead of constantly recasting across the entire pond. Small water does not mean fish are evenly distributed every minute.
- For a family or beginner outing, Vlasis can be easier to understand than a large reservoir: one rod, a small terminal-tackle box and a clear target species keep the trip simple.

WINTER TROUT
Light spinning
4–6 lb mono/fluoro. Start with a small spoon, inline spinner or 1/32–1/16 oz jig when allowed by the lake's current winter rules.
WARM SEASON
Catfish + panfish
Catfish: 12–20 lb line with a simple bottom rig. Panfish: 4–6 lb line, small jig or worm under a float.
BASS
Finesse first
8–12 lb mono/fluoro or light braid with a fluorocarbon leader. Start with a finesse worm, compact jig or small moving bait.
